What patrons are saying about Laurel's Paintings
Dear Laurel,
I wanted to thank you again and tell you how much I love the painting of the harvest house. I love your eye, your light and your style. You captured summer and I can feel it every time I look at the painting. I am looking forward to many more pieces gracing my home.
With all my love and admiration for your work. Yours, Cindy
Laurel, we were touched by your note. The additional details make us even fonder of the paintings. They are both hanging in our Corvallis home. "Yaquina" is hanging in a space in the dining area that has been empty all the years we have lived in the house. I told Dave to hang it there until I decided if we would take it to MN. Well it is staying right where it is. Perfect. "Autumn Gold" is hanging over the fireplace and has positively changed the whole feel of the room. They have a life of their own. They seem to move and change depending on the light, the angle, or the distance.
Yaquina is my view for morning coffee and everyday offers a new perspective. Your paintings are a treasure. God has given you a mighty gift. - Lori
Laurel has an amazing ability to capture nature’s beauty – especially the lighting. Of my two favorite pieces – both of which are focal points in our home – one has the sun peaking brightly though clouds over the rocky mesas of Central Oregon; the other shows a river tumbling through a deep forested canyon. Few people can accurately replicate the bright reflections of tumbling water; but Laurel can.
It should also be noted that since these are oil paintings, they have depth & texture that is hard to appreciate except in person, and that each painting is unique (unlike prints).

I first saw Laurel’s work at an art competition in Corvallis Oregon. Among more than a hundred pieces, her work stood out. From 40 feet away I thought “What a lovely photograph.” But on closer inspection, I discovered it to be an oil painting with coarse brush strokes. I was amazed to learn that it could look so precise & accurate from a distance, and yet be difficult to make out up close. Fascinating. We bought it on the spot.

Like bashing through river rapids, unsure if we’ll capsize, painting offers a timeless and tactile place to test our human resolve and spirit. Here, we register our soul and make visible the invisible. -Sara Genn
